A Taste of Brewing History

Mother Kelly's Bottle Shop E9

A Taste of Brewing History

The 1800s saw some incredible advances in brewing technology - from malt roasting, to refrigeration, to making sense of microbes.

We'll talk through the impact of these advancements, while tasting our way through a UK-brewed example of the beer styles they gave rise to.

From porter to Pilsner, you'll get a taste of brewing history (and some fine British beers, too!)

"Fruit and vegetables are part of a healthy, balanced diet and can help us stay healthy. It's important that we eat enough of them"

We all need more fruit and veg in our life, but don't limit yourself to just eating them. Why not enjoy them in your beer!

Phill and Steph from Caps and Taps will be guiding you through five different beers that contain fruit and vegetables! Expect the likes of raspberry infused Guezue, grapefuit IPAs, mushroom sours & fig barleywines.

Funk and Soul w/ Deya Brewing Co

Cock Tavern

Funk and Soul w/ Deya Brewing Co

Deya Brewing Company are a young brewery from Cheltenham who make a bang up-to-date range of New England pales, hazy hop-forward IPAs and all that good stuff. They brew their beer to an eclectic range of music, with the beers named to match (Steady Rolling Man, Man's Driving a Belgian Wit.) Their ace beer rarely makes it to London, so snap up this rare treat of a wide range on tap and in tall-boy cans. DJ Jonny Shire (Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club) will play some tunes to fit with the beers. A mix of funk, soul, latin, jazz, afrobeat & world music.

Marble Party & Meet the Brewer

Duke's Head, Highgate

Marble Party & Meet the Brewer

For London Beer City one of the city's most-loved pubs, The Duke's Head, Highgate is bringing Manchester's venerable Marble Brewery and the spirit of its home, The Marble Arch, to town. On Wednesday the 9th of August join beer writers Matthew Curtis and Marble head brewer James "JK" Kemp along with a host of other folks from Marble Brewery for a meet the brewer, Q&A, tutored tasting and a tap takeover on cask and keg. Classic's such as Pint and Dobber will be on the bar along with plenty of specials that are being brewed for Marble's 20th anniversary, which is also taking place this year. We'll even have staff from The Marble Arch and The Marble Beer House at 57 Thomas Street helping out behind the bar on the night to complete what will be a quintessentially Mancunian experience.

Tickets are £10 each and will include four halves of beer. This will bring a week long Marble Takeover at the Duke's Head - as part of its two month Duke's Head-Fest beer festival - to a triumphant close.

Beer + oysters: a classic combination. We’ve persuaded our pals The Oystermen to leave their new Covent Garden restaurant in safe hands for the evening in order to bring those delicious oysters down to our tap room. Pair your oysters with our Oystermen collaboration beer Everyday Oyster Stout, or find your own beer & oyster combination from one of our 10 keg lines. Shucks, we’d hate for you to miss this!
