Taste with the experts at our closing party!

London Beer City has just a few more days to run, but there's still plenty to look forward to. Tonight sees a 20-tap Kernel tap takeover at Brewdog Shepherd's Bush, plus a special event featuring beer and biltong at Hiver's arch in Bermondsey, and plenty more besides.

And then tomorrow is one of the highlight's of the event, the official closing party. This year we've included beers from 16 of our favourite London breweries, and then there'll be great food, soft drinks and beer to take away too. We've also arranged some exclusive tastings, focusing on three of the city's most exciting areas: Bermondsey, Hackney and Tottenham.

For £5 (on top of the entry fee), guests will enjoy a tutored tastings of beers from three different breweries, led by those breweries themselves. For Bermondsey, we've lined up Partizan, Fourpure and Brew By Numbers; for Hackney, Five Points, Pressure Drop and Hackney; and for Tottenham, Beavertown, Affinity and Redemption.

Entry to the event is £8, which includes your first beer. You can buy your ticket here. What are you waiting for?

Meet the Gipsy Hillbillies!

Gipsy Hill is one of London's most impressive breweries. Launched in 2014 with the intention to create full-flavoured beers at session strength, they've achieved that and more besides, with stronger beers such as Ramblers, a double IPA brewed in collaboration with DEYA, and Bogan, a New Zealand pale ale - winning favour with the capital's in-the-know beer drinkers.

Now's your chance to meet them and find out how they do it. The team behind Gipsy Hill will be hanging out at their own pub, The Douglas Fir, from 7.30 this evening. You'll be able to try their brews, chat to the team and take away beers at a special London Beer City price. Not to be missed!

Find London Beer City at GBBF!

Today the Great British Beer Festival opens at Olympia for its 40th magnificent year. The festival, which showcases the diversity of UK cask ale alongside superb beers from Germany, the USA, Belgium and elsewhere, has long been one of the world's most significant beer events. This year, though, is a little bit special, and not just because of that birthday celebration.

For the first time, London Beer City will have a stand at GBBF. Boasting beers from three of the festival's stalwarts - Five Points, Redemption and Windsor & Eton - the bar is to be found right at the heart of the main hall. So if you want to pick up a programme, enjoy a delicious beer or simply shoot the breeze about this year's festival, this is the place to come.

"We're absolutely delighted to be a part of GBBF this year," says London Beer City founder Will Hawkes. "Part of the inspiration for London Beer City came from GBBF - we wanted to take the excitement you get in Olympia during GBBF and spread it around the city. We can't wait to get involved."

London Beer City is go!

What are you going to? The London Beer City schedule is now online, featuring more than 80 events at pubs, breweries, restaurants and more all around the city between 3-13 August.

This year's schedule takes in numerous tap takeovers - from New York's Other Half to local heroes The Kernel at Brewdog Shepherd's Bush, embassies (both international - New Zealand, for example - and national), food events (don't miss Brew By Numbers at Hawksmoor), talks (such as Adrian Tierney-Jones musing on The Moods of London Craft Beer at the Mermaid in East London) anfd tastings.

There's plenty of quirkier stuff, too. Some of London's best bottle shops have linked up with breweries to make special one-off ales. Which is best? You'll decide. Crate in Hackney Wick is hosting an event devoted to fermentation. Beer and chocolate are being matched at the Bohemia.

Then there's the London Craft Beer Festival, the 40th year of GBBF and London Beer City's closing party at the Five Points Brewing Company's warehouse yard in Mare Street, Hackney. The latter will have beer from 16 London breweries plus great food, music and more.

It all adds up to a truly unmissable week of beer.
